If you write software in a language that uses braces or parenthesis like C++ or Java, you might find yourself trying to find an opposing brace somewhere in your code. With Vim, the job is quite easy. You simply put your cursor on a brace or parenthesis, press %, and Vi will move the cursor to the corresponding brace or parenthesis.
